Max wants ECU’s to be standard

Max_20Moseley2d_jpg.jpgBut myself and many of the major F1 teams don't want it to be introduced. Max says it should come in to stop teams hiding stuff in the many million lines of code that compromise the modern ECU units of F1 cars.

The reason many are against it is that most major manufacturers are in F1 for the research as well as the glory of wining. If standard ECU's were introduced then it would cut some of that research and development down.

My question is, Why is it a problem that the teams hide code? We all know that launch control is banned, but the Renault's are without a shadow of a doubt using it. So are all the other teams, just theirs is not as good. Same goes for many of the things that get hidden in the code, they all do it, it's just some can afford to hire better coders.

This is not a problem, the problem is that the teams are spending a fortune hiding it! It should be allowed in the cars, after all the F1 car is the 'pinnacle' of the motor sport fraternity. But if the FIA get it all their own way the American Champ Car Series will be out performing the F1 guys.

Yes we cannot have F1 ruled by the teams with the most cash, but likewise we cannot make it into another standardised dingle seat formula. We have enough of those.
