Spyker to announce Midland Buy-out
It looks like the deal for the Dutch consortium to buy Midland racing has been completed.
F1Racing.net have an article up saying that the teams buy-out will be announced this weekend at Monza.
If it is true, then what the team will look like next year is unknown. The engine deal is the one thing that needs to be clarified.
It is known that the Spyker consortium have been speaking to Ferrari about a possible supply (one of the Spyker shareholders owns 5% of Ferrari), however if the Red Bull or Toro Rosso teams use the Ferrari customer engine, will Ferrari want to supply three teams including themselves.
Also might it indicate that indeed, Renault will be supplying the power for the Adrian Newey RB03 car?
But if that is the case, who will the Toro Rosso team run with? as it is known that they have got out of the Cosworth deal a year early.
Or the other possibility is that the Renault engine will be in the RB03, the Ferrari one in the TR02 and the Cosworth lump in the Midland/Spyker car. But that begs the question, will VAG buy Cosworth and brand it Audi? Spyker use Audi lumps in their current race and road cars, so it would not be too far fetched.
The Monza race could be very interesting this weekend, both on and off the track, as to add to the mix, rain is forecasted.
