Stoddart is back
Well he is back in motorsport at least. Paul Stoddart the former Minardi owner has bought the controlling interest in the CTE Racing HVM team.
The new Minardi Team USA will run in the ChampCar series next year, Paul had this to say
'After taking a year off from motor racing following the sale of Minardi, we’ve had a chance to consider our options and examine how we might want to be involved with the sport in the future. After a lot of deliberation, we’ve come to the conclusion that ChampCar, with its blend of highly competitive, cost-effective racing and relatively level playing-field, offers easily the best way forward. We’ve been in discussion with Kevin Kalkhoven (ChampCar co-owner) and Keith Wiggins (HVM team owner) for some time now about a possible involvement, and I’m pleased to confirm today that we are proceeding with our plans.'
The team have announced that they will run two cars with a possible third next year, with (probably) Jos Verstappen, Katherine Legge and perhaps Paul Stoddart or Robert Doornbos in the seats.
We wish him the best in his new venture, and let's hope he can feature at the top more in the American series. The ChampCar season kicks off on January 23rd at Sebring in Florida.
