F1 through the eyes of a speed freak!

Has Dennis been bumped?

ron-dennis-monac Rumour has started to circulate in the MotorSport world that Ron Dennis has been bumped off the top at McLaren.

It seems that Mercedes may have ‘asked’ Dennis to step down, with Martin Whitmarsh taking over the day to day running of the Woking team.

This would be a sad day for the team, and the sport in general, as Dennis, although having his faults, is a good part of the sport.

Dennis has run McLaren since the early 1980’s, since then the team has won 9 Drivers and 7 Constructors titles. So he obviously knows how to get the team motivated.

Time will tell if the rumour is true, but we will keep you updated.

I agree, losing Ron would be sad for F1. What about the effect on Hamilton too? He’s always saying he sees RD as a ‘father figure.’ Let’s hope this is just a wild rumour.

Yeah, it will certainly be a sad day if it is true, and if it is true then RD may as well sell his stock in the team to Mercedes and be done with it.

I’ll believe it when I see it… reading what’s going on inside that team is like how reading the internal politics of the Kremlin used to be. But the thing that strikes me at the moment is that, even though the story’s been out in the wild for a day or two now, there’s still only the one (not hugely reliable) source for it. If it was real, I’d have expected it to start gathering momentum by now. You never know, though…
