Been following F-1 since I was about 8yrs old-around 1961 or so; just a few changes-very exciting to get photos of the newest mount given to Surtees, Jim Clark, etc. So difficult to track the sport in USA,drag racing, NASCAR,and others completely overshadowed F-1 until Clark made his attempt at
the Indy 500, and even then the European “boys” were viewed as fragile creatures driving strange sounding cars that turned right, raced in the rain, and had a completely different fan base-shocking to learn that millions followed the sport ravenously.
Today, hearing any commentator of autosport outside of F-1 mention more than two sentances about the drivers, history, cars…is a shock; the only real connection to F-1 that we hear of is the Andretti clan paying their due (and homage) in the greatest test of motoring skill.
Can anyone tell me the degree of hilarity of Michael Schumacher gittin’ in a Chevy and attacking the Daytona high-banks, turning left all those laps? And the old saw about can the F-1 boys take the pounding and bumping that goes on in a typical stock car race? I imagine Messers. Schumacher and co. might have the stomach for a few fender massages by the likes of a Tony Stewart…love to see a NASCAR driver get out of car after a long test session, having to deal with all that the demanding European tracks require-and remind them that there would be a few others joining them in a race situation. In the rain.
Please-give us more F-1 connections. Videos.Stills. Historical documentaries. Please?

I’ll see what I can do.
