Silverstone Preview
I was going to put a nice piece together on the history of the Silverstone GP. However F1Fanatic have a good piece up, and untill I finish the history piece I recomend you check out their great preview article.
The British GP is always a great race, and this year I can see it being a classic.
No commentsGoverning body for 2008
It looks like more political shenanigans inside the F1 circle. The F1 commission for 2008 has been announced (this is the body that ratifies the rules and technical decisions).
There has been 6 teams chosen, 1 team from each country, they are :-
Austria : Red Bull Racing
France : Renault
Germany : BMW Sauber
Italy : Ferrari
Japan : Honda
UK : Williams
Apparently, so Max said, these teams were chosen on a 'seniority' basis. That however does not stack up. Honda have been in F1 for less time than Toyota (before Honda they where BAR, and English team), and McLaren have been in F1 for 3 years more than Williams.
However the 2 teams shunned, are the ones that tend to be the most vocal/powerful from their respective regions. I know for sure that Ron Dennis will not like the situation, and I'm sure the most cash rich team in F1 (Toyota) will not like it at all either.
The other members on the commission an FIA representative and the promoters :-
Australian Grand Prix
Brazilian Grand Prix
Hungarian Grand Prix
Monaco Grand Prix
Spanish Grand Prix
We will have to see what comes out in the wash, but I'm almost positive the teams that are not in the list will not like it.
