German Qualifying

hock-qual Some interesting results from earlier’s qualifying session. It seems that the Ferrari of Kimi is miles off the pace, with Massa and Lewis leading the field.

Other interesting results are the Toyota of Jarno up at fourth spot for the start with Fernando wringing a lap out of his Renault to start in fifth, both ahead of Räikkönen’s Ferrari.

Both Red Bull cars made it into the final Q3 session with Webber again getting the better of David Coulthard.

The BMW’s did not do well at home, with only Robert making the final session, and then only managing seventh spot.

But a good drive from Vettel got the Ferrari powered STR into the final session to start in ninth.

Should be a good race tomorrow, as Massa’s Ferrari could be quick in race trim.

Pos No Driver Team Q1 Q2 Q3 Laps
1 22 Lewis Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes 1:15.218 1:14.603 1:15.666 13
2 2 Felipe Massa Ferrari 1:14.921 1:14.747 1:15.859 16

Turkey Qualifying

MassaTurkey04 For the third year in a row, Felipe Massa has popped his Ferrari onto the pole slot. He has won from first on the grid for the last two years, so looking good for the Brazilian in tomorrows race.

Heikki made a great comeback from his smash in Spain to take the second spot on the grid. Lewis took the third spot on the grid with a great lap using the hard compound tyres on his fast run, making the pace of the McLaren look good, if not quite the match of the Ferrari.

Fourth spot went to Kimi, with a Ferrari that was certainly looking a handful, especially towards the end of the lap, so the Finn may well be running a heavier car.

The BMW Sauber’s did not look as quick as they have in the previous races, with Robert Kubica taking fifth and Nick Heidfeld struggling back in ninth.

The Red Bull’s and Renault’s are showing that their pace in Spain was real, with Webber in sixth, and Fernando in seventh.

Roundup

Ok, so I have to apologise for not posting for a while, but this is the silly season, and I have been caught up in family and work.

That said, it’s also been a good off season so far for F1 news, so with that in mind, lets break it all down, let’s start with the Driver announcements.

52_ralf_schumacher Ralf

The younger Schumacher has left the Toyota team, and even though he played with the idea of driving for Team India by taking part in a test, it seems that he was not offered the job.

Ralf is one of those drivers that initially shone, and I have no doubt that if he was in a competitive car could be quick. However he has not got his brothers talent of setup, and overcoming the car’s deficiencies, and because of that cost Toyota not only a lot of money, but also a lot of time.

I’m sure with Timo Glock and Jarno in the driving seats the team has a good base to build a car for the future.
