The BBC have announced a 5 year deal to show the Formula 1 show on the BBC.

The deal that starts next year, and give the fans what their crying out for, F1 without the bad timed adverts.

The Beeb also get the right’s for online broadcasting and keep their radio licence as well, so all bases covered.

Bernie had this to say about the deal, “I think it will be good, a fresh face. I’m not complaining about ITV, I’m not saying they did a bad job or anything like that. But with all the other things they are loaded up with - and who knows they will get some more stuff - maybe it will be a bit more difficult to spend as much time on us. I think the BBC will do that.”

Stoddart is back

Well he is back in motorsport at least. Paul Stoddart the former Minardi owner has bought the controlling interest in the CTE Racing HVM team.

The new Minardi Team USA will run in the ChampCar series next year, Paul had this to say

'After taking a year off from motor racing following the sale of Minardi, we’ve had a chance to consider our options and examine how we might want to be involved with the sport in the future. After a lot of deliberation, we’ve come to the conclusion that ChampCar, with its blend of highly competitive, cost-effective racing and relatively level playing-field, offers easily the best way forward. We’ve been in discussion with Kevin Kalkhoven (ChampCar co-owner) and Keith Wiggins (HVM team owner) for some time now about a possible involvement, and I’m pleased to confirm today that we are proceeding with our plans.'

The team have announced that they will run two cars with a possible third next year, with (probably) Jos Verstappen, Katherine Legge and perhaps Paul Stoddart or Robert Doornbos in the seats.

Another one enters the fray

With the recent news that both Prodrive and Minardi would like to run teams in F1 for 08, we now have a third new team vying for the last place on the grid. Say hello to the Carlin Motorsport team.

Bernie has said that F1 will now be allowed to expand beyond 12 teams with a 24 car grid, so someone is going to be disappointed, the FIA have not stated yet how the places will be dolled out to teams either.

The new team are well established as an F3 front runner, bringing through people like Anthony Davidson, Takuma Sato and Narain Karthikeyan.

We wish them luck.
